Fungus
True fungus is relatively rare and there are many different kinds. Generally, it appears as a white fluffy growth, usually around the site of an injury. It is also caused by bacterial infection and should be treated as such. Fungus attacks the body and fins of the fish. If left untreated, it will infect the body of the fish and can be fatal.

Treatment
☆ Test your parameters in the display tank and ensure that everything is in check.
☆ Quarantine the Goldfish in a 40+Litre/10+G tub.
☆ Ensure you maintain pristine water. Perform large, daily water changes. If your tank and tap pH differ by more than 0.5, stick with 50% changes. If they match, you can perform larger water changes.
☆ Raise the salinity to 0.1% by dosing aquarium salt (Sodium Chloride) at 1 gram per litre/1 teaspoon per Gallon.
☆ Methylene blue dips should be performed to treat the bacteria at dosage of 1 teaspoon per 5USG for 30minutes in a separate container. Perform these dips daily, until the fungus has cleared. Dechlorinator can remove MB, so if you have dechlorinated the water, wait 30+minutes before adding MB. Do not add MB directly to your tank as it destroys beneficial bacteria and you will lose your cycle.
☆ In some cases of severe fungus, an antibiotic may be needed to combat the disease. Treat with Kanamycin for a 12 day period.
